... something is on the move!

For eight months there has not been a lot of movement in this matter, but due to regional and nationwide news coverage and due to the instalment of a website in November 2003 new interest has been sparked. Also a donations account was set up at the same time and more than 3000 Euros have been received. More and more people are daily taking part in Captain Rosik’s fate.

Inspired by the website, one of the managers of the German technical relief operation (THW), Mr Hans Hermann Mietz, together with fellow colleagues from other related relief operations have decided to take action and want to tackle the salvage of the freighter.

The technical relief team are willing to carry out the operation on a voluntary basis. This means that a vast proportion of the salvage operation costs can be saved. According to the specialists, as a result of this, the operation could be carried out for approximately 40.000 Euros.

The THW are able to tackle this difficult and “heavy-weight” task due to their excellent equipment and specialised knowledge.

During the next few days applications will be filed with the authorities in order to receive the necessary authorisation and permits required for the salvage operation to be carried out by the technical relief organisation (THW).

The only issue that has not yet been guaranteed is the financing of the operation. Although the THW are more than willing to help, they cannot carry out the operation until the cost price is covered.

Captain Rosik is hopeful that he might be able to leave the dry dock before the anniversary on the
21st March 2004. With your donations this wish is becoming more and more of a reality.

We would like to thank all donors and are daily updating the donations account on this web page.

Thank you very much.
